Levain Boulangerie & Patisserie







Long time no see~I am so slack!! I was too tired playing for the past few days, hey wait, I think I forget to mention I am back in Malaysia for holidays now XD I spent couple of days in KL before I go back to my home town Ipoh. My poor sis ( who works in KL) brings me around KL these few days and you know what? we never go home before we feel super exhausted. Every time I see her exhausted face, I would purposely ask "Why are you so tired?" And then she would look at me with an annoyed face that said "All because of you", hahaha!!

Malaysia's first stop: I would like to recommend this restaurant/ cafe (very good ambience in there =D). They mainly serve desserts, but they do sell savoury food. We had our breakfast there so we ordered only buns and coffee, actually their pasta & soup look nice too! The bun itself is impressive! I am very impressed by the Walnut cream cheese bun that is covered by poppy seeds. (I don't remember the exact name but for sure you can recognise this distinguished bun if you reach there) Inside the bun is cream cheese (do you even need to mention this??) and dried fruits, sweet and tasty. The Custard cream donut is a MUST-TRY!! It is corn-flakes-covered (add to the crunchiness) and the custard is not too sweet, superb combination XD As for the Durian melon bun, the filling tastes just like a real durian, while the bun is crunchy outside. Frankly speaking, I am not a durian fan but I am sure durian fans will like it. Try normal melon bun if you are someone like me. The caramel nut danish is nice too! Nuts-lover shouldn't miss it. The Japan ?? bun (sorry I forget the name again T.T) is nice but it's pretty normal, feels like something we can get from normal bakery. The most disappointing thing I would say, is the Chestnut Mont Blanc. I always see this dessert in Japanese comic and hence, been wanting to try it since then. Is it because I have too high expectation? It tastes really normal and even worse, with some sort of sourish taste. I don't know whether it's spoiled or is that the original taste?

Well for the Cappuccino, I think Australia's one is better. The cappuccino here is not as creamy and smooth. Considered not bad though, a good match for something sweet =)

哟哟好久不见!小女子又偷懒了 XP 与其说是偷懒,不如说是玩得太疯,玩得太累!前几天我刚回到马来西亚,在吉隆坡逗留了好几天,每一天都要玩得全身虚脱才肯罢休!阿不然就太浪费在吉隆坡的时光了~哈哈哈!不过就可怜了我的妹妹,她在吉隆坡工作,比较熟悉哪里好玩好吃,所以这几天就由她带我上山下海。每天回家看到她一副“惨”样,我就会故意问她:“为什么你这么累的?” 于是她就会以一种“还不是因为你”的厌恶眼神看着我,哈哈哈太好玩了XD

马来西亚第一炮:给各位介绍这个美死人不偿命的餐厅~它主要卖甜点,但也有卖主食。那天早上我们吃的是面包早餐和咖啡,其他像意大利面什么的没有点。单单它的面包就让我大为惊艳了!首先我对那个布满了黑色 poppy seeds 的 Walnut cream cheese bun 印象深刻。(名字不太肯定,不过你去到那边一定会认得这个很有特色的面包)。它里面有cream cheese (那还用说?!)和各种干果,味道吃起来甜而不腻。再来那个 Custard cream donut 也是好吃得没话说!!不太甜的 custard 配上那香脆的 corn flakes 表层,一个“赞”绝对不足于形容我对你的爱恋 XD XD 我们还点了Durian melon bun,面包表层非常香脆可口,咬下去里面是满满的榴莲味。。。只可惜我不是榴莲的“饭死”,要不然我一定也很爱你!建议不爱榴莲的人试试它们的melon bun,我相信也会很好吃噢 =) 另外也点了Caramel nut danish, 爱豆人士绝对不能错过~全桌唯一的咸面包-- Japan ??bun (又忘记名字了 T.T) 好吃是好吃,但没有令我惊艳,感觉外面的面包店也能吃到类似的口味。这么多餐点里面,最让我失望的是 Chesnut mont blanc。话说我看日本漫画时常会出现栗子蒙布朗,所以小女子对这个没吃过的甜点一直很向往。。。终于!在Levain发现了它!于是迫不及待地买下来尝尝~是因为期望太大吗?它吃起来很普通,而且还带有一点酸味。。。不知道是坏了还是原本的味道就是这样。

至于它的Cappuccino呢~就比澳洲逊色了一点~没那么香滑浓郁。不过还算不错,配甜点蛮合适的 =)

How did everyone spend their last day in 2011? Poor me was working that day T.T After working I felt really hungry so my dinner was taken at a restaurant nearby my workplace.

I always walk past this restaurant but have never paid attention to it-- Ghin Khao Thai Food (a restaurant located somewhere on the very busy Swanston Street). It looks very normal outside, but since it's a meal taken with my very-good friend (Giraffe), everything there becomes special =) Well actually, the interior is not too bad.

Honestly speaking, 2 girls couldn't eat much~We ordered Thai Fish Cake, Pad Thai Chicken and Tom Yum Chicken with Noodle. The Thai Fish Cake was a bomb! I always think that South East Asia's cuisine is amazing, cause they are so good in using a great range of herbs and spices to produce a very unique and "complicated" taste. The fish cake had a combination of different tastes but they all combined harmoniously. Well the Pad Thai Chicken I ordered disappointed me a little bit. The noodle is too thin for me, I personally prefer the noodle in Saffront Thai (a Thai restaurant in Caulfield) which is a bit thicker. But taste-wise, it's quite nice. As for the Tom Yum Chicken with Noodle ordered by my friend...we rated it a 6 out of 10. The tom yum taste was quite light, and the soup base seemed pretty clear (not as reddish as those served in other Thai restaurants). I actually heard that the authentic Thai Tom Yum Soup looks like this, but still we prefer tom yum soup of stronger taste. 

Ok done with the food recommendation~can I please say something unrelated now? XD This restaurant has a very cute little glass! The bottom of the glass is uneven (it looks like a cone shape down there). But it wouldn't fall no matter how you push it~have a look at the picture down here>>


In conclusion, I think this restaurant is pretty normal. Anyhow you are more than welcome to try out the restaurant (or you might just want to see the cute little glass??) yourself. The dish over another table looked really nice (but not ours =p)

2011 的最后一天,各位是怎么过的呢?你知道吗~小女那天还要打工耶!打工结束后肚子很饿,所以晚餐就随便在打工地点的附近解决了。

Ghin Khao Thai Food,是一间我走过很多次都没发现的餐厅。。。其实它就座落在Swanston大街上。外观看来很普通的餐厅,可是因为是跟很要好的朋友一起吃的,所以就显得特别起来了 =) 走入餐厅后发现气氛还不错哦!

两个女生也吃不了多少,我们点了 Thai Fish Cake, Pad Thai Chicken 和 Tom Yum Chicken with Noodle。 Thai Fish Cake 很令人惊艳!我觉得东南亚的料理很不可思议,它们用各种香料,搭配出一种独特又多层次的风味。像这个 Fish Cake 的味道就很丰富,各种味道交杂在一起可是却很搭。我点的 Pad Thai Chicken 嘛,就比较逊色一点了。它的面条偏细,偶个人还是比较喜欢 Saffront Thai (另一件在 Caulfield 的泰国餐厅)版本的面条啦~撇开口感不说,味道还算不错。再来说说我朋友点的 Tom Yum Chicken with Noodle,这个就更逊色一点了。。。哈哈!!那 Tom Yum 口味偏淡,汤也比较清澈见底。我曾听说正宗的泰国 Tom Yum Soup 就长这个样子,可能是个人喜好的关系,我们都偏好口味重一点的 Tom Yum Soup。

好啦介绍完毕,再来想说一下无关紧要的小事。这间餐厅有个超可爱的玻璃杯!!它的底部是不平的,可是怎么推都不会倒~神奇吧?照片也给上传一下让各位看看 XD



总的来说,我对这间餐厅的评价普通,要不要去尝试(又或者你只想看看它的玻璃杯??)就请各位自己决定咯,哈哈!

Today when I browsed through the photos in my laptop, I found that I forget to "blog" this very very awesome restaurant-- Richmond Oysters!! Thanks to Samson who introduced it to us~I must record what we had that day XD

This restaurant is quite easily-found, located right next to Each Richmond train station. The signboard looks really old but the food they serve...superb. We visited the restaurant in November, so I don't quite remember the exact names on the menu, what I remember is that everyone on the table felt satisfied with the food.

I ordered something called the Seafood Basket, it came in a pretty generous size. The scallop, prawn, fish and chips were all fried and seasoned well, eating them with the crunchy salad is such a pleasure to have XD Shee Ling ordered their pasta, looked very nice too. There is another thing called "Sea Catch of the Day", whereby you get to pick your own fish (they have Whiting, Barramundi, etc), the way you want it to be cooked (tempura, steam, grill, etc) and 2 side dish (chips, sweet potato chips, salad, wedges, etc). Visit the place and have your very own specific meal.

The cost per meal here is around AUD 20 ~ 40, a bit pricey but in my opinion, worth the price =)

今天心血来潮浏览了电脑里的照片,发现我忘了介绍一个很赞很赞非常赞的餐厅-- Richmond Oysters!!多谢 Samson 的好介绍,小女一定要写 blog 把它记录下来!

这餐厅不难找,就在 East Richmond 火车站的附近。招牌看来旧旧的,但里面的食物可是一鸣惊人呐~因为是十一月去的,点的餐名都不太记得了。。。只知道在座的每个朋友对它的食物都是赞赏有加 ^^

我点的那个叫 Seafood Basket 什么的,分量蛮大,而且无论是带子,虾,鱼片,薯条,都炸得很脆很好吃!配上爽口的沙拉简直是绝配 XD Shee Ling 点了它们的 Pasta,看来也很好吃。这里还有个很特别的配套,叫"Sea Catch of the Day"(大概是像酱的名字)--你可以选择任何一种鱼类,配上自己喜欢的烹饪方式(天妇罗,清蒸,烧烤等等),然后再选两样配菜(有薯条,番薯条,沙拉等等),组成属于自己的套餐。呼呼~大家不妨去试试呗!

这间餐厅的价位偏高,大约在 AUD 20 至 40 之间,可是非常值得一试 =)

Chocolate chip banana muffin 香蕉巧克力马芬



I had decided to bake a Chocolate chip banana muffin for my friend's graduation that day, it's a recipe taken from the Taste website. The taste is not bad but...I burnt the bottom part of the muffin >"< I am not used to the oven in my friend's house (it is fire-operated)~ Anyway, I can guarantee that the ending result (your muffin) will look great if you use the normal oven to bake ^^

I am too lazy to rewrite the recipe in English so...please refer to the Taste website, thank you XD

Reminder: I know I had mentioned this before but please allow me to remind you all once again...don't overbeat the batter! Or else your muffin will have a very hard texture


那天为朋友的毕业典礼烤了个香蕉巧克力马芬,这食谱取自Taste的网站~味道还不错,只可惜我这次烤焦了马芬的底部 >"< 因为不太熟悉朋友家的烤箱(底部有火的那种)所以烤焦了,各位不用担心,如果你用的是普通烤箱,我保证这个温度烤出来的马芬一定是美美的 ^^

分量:11个

材料:2 杯自发粉
            1/2 杯糖
            1/2 杯牛奶
            2 个蛋
            2 条香蕉,压烂
            60 克牛油,溶化
            1 杯 (200克)巧克力豆

做法:1。将自发粉和糖混好。
            2。把蛋打散,加入牛奶,压烂的香蕉和溶化的牛油。
            3。将1。和2。搅匀,不要过分搅拌
            4。加入巧克力豆。
            5。倒入马芬模,烤20分钟,200度。

提醒:虽然之前说过了,但是小女还是要很啰嗦地提醒一次(哎呀歹势啦 XP)~做马芬的要诀就是不能过度搅拌,这样烤出来的马芬才松软好吃噢

Sticky date pudding 热枣布丁


Another cake for friend's birthday-- sticky date pudding! This friend used to thought that Sticky Date Pudding  implies a "Romantic date", hahaha! Well actually, the DATE refers to the core ingredients of this cake-- DATE, but not the date's DATE, you get it now? hahaha!!

I got this recipe from Taste website, pretty nice. It's good to eat it hot =D

Ingredients: (A) Cake: 250g dates, pitted, chopped
                                   1 tsp bicarbonate of soda
                                   1 1/2 cups boiling water
                                   125g butter,softened
                                   1 cup brown sugar
                                   2 eggs
                                   1 3/4 cups self-raising flour

                  (B) Butterscotch sauce: 1 cup brown sugar
                                                      300 ml thickened cream
                                                      60g butter

Method: (A): 1. Place chopped dates in a bowl, add bicarbonate of soda, then pour in boiling water. Set aside for 20 minutes.
                     2. Use mixer to mix butter and sugar until pale and creamy.
                     3. Add in eggs and stir, 1 at a time.
                     4. Add in flour and stir well.
                     5. Mix the date mixture from Step 1. with the flour batter.
                     6. Pour the mixture into 8 small bowls OR a 22cm cake tin (greased). Bake at 180 C for 35-40 minutes.

             (B): 1. Combine all ingredients for (B). Cook and stir with medium heat until it comes to the boil. Then lower the heat to medium-low and simmer for 2 minutes.

Pour butterscotch sauce over the cake to serve. Hope you enjoy baking + eating XD


又是一道做给朋友的生日蛋糕~热枣布丁!我这个朋友曾经以为英文版的“热枣布丁”有“甜蜜的约会”的意思,哈哈哈笑死我了 XD 其实那 Sticky Date Pudding 的 Date 指的不是“约会”,而是这道甜点的原材料-- “枣”。

我这食谱取自Taste 的网站,还蛮好吃的。建议趁热吃 =D

材料:(A) 蛋糕:250 克枣,去种子,切碎
                              1 茶匙小苏打
                              1 1/2 杯热水
                              125 克牛油,软化
                              1 杯黄糖
                              2 个鸡蛋
                              1 3/4 杯自发粉

  (B) 焦糖酱:1杯黄糖
                        300 豪升奶油
                        60 克牛油

做法:(A): 1。将切碎的枣置于碗内,加入小苏打,再倒入热水。搁置20分钟。
                   2。用搅拌机将牛油和黄糖搅拌至均匀。
                3。慢慢加入蛋搅匀,一次一粒。
                   4。加入自发粉搅匀。
                   5。将步骤1。的枣和面糊混合并搅匀。
                   6。倒入8个小碗或1个22公分的蛋糕器皿(先抹油在器皿上),烤180度,35-40分钟。

            (B): 1。将(B)的材料全部混合,用中火煮至滚,转小火慢煮2分钟。

把焦糖酱淋在蛋糕上享用即可,祝各位烘焙成功!

Oh my god 1 month passed and I haven't uploaded anything! Paiseh, too busy hanging out with friends~ but on the bright side, I have more restaurant review to write cause our gathering has always been linked with FOOD XD


When you walk along Swanston Street, have you ever noticed a restaurant that is always packed with customers, and yet there are people waiting outside to go in? I was so curious about how good the food is and finally on that day, we visited "Taiwan Cafe".


The good thing about this restaurant is-- you wouldn't need to wait for too long although there are sooo many customers =D Many of my friends ordered "Oyster thin noodle" and their comments are generally good. A Taiwanese friend said it's pretty similar to those available in Taiwan. It costs only AUD 6.90 per bowl~a pretty small bowl though.


Their "Minced pork noodle" is quite nice too! The pork is tender and fully flavoured...but it can be a bit salty if you finish the whole bowl by yourself. 


The "XL crispy fried chicken" is a MUST-ORDER!! Super nice! It's very crispy and the chicken is nicely seasoned with salt and pepper. Remember to eat while it's still hot.


The food that impressed me the most during my last visit to Taiwan is "Pork Belly Bun" in Shi  Da night market (Taipei). Pork belly, pickles, peanut powder, coriander...superb combination of saltiness and sweetness. While the 1 sold in Taiwan Cafe tastes quite good, I still prefer the 1 from Shi Da night market. So don't miss the chance to eat this super-star food when you visit Taipei next time.


The bubble tea in Taiwan Cafe is pretty normal>> flat taste.


Except bubble tea, other food that we tried are nice. A restaurant that is worth trying =D

哇~一晃就是一个月!不好意思偷懒了,最近忙着跟朋友吃喝玩乐,都没好好更新呢~今天给大家介绍“台北客栈”。


各位走在Swanston Street这大街上时,有没有发现这间餐厅总是高朋满座,而且还有很多人在外面排队等位子呢?小女那天终于抵不过好奇心,去一探究竟了!


人很多,不过上菜蛮快的。它的蚵仔面线味道不赖,台湾朋友说跟台湾有得比噢。一碗才AUD 6.90,不过蛮小碗的就是了。


也点了台式炸酱面,挺好吃的。肉碎很软很入味,只是吃到最后觉得稍咸了一点点。


还有必点的豪大大鸡排!!超正点的 XD 炸得酥脆,咸香夹杂着胡椒粉香,非常大众化的口味。请记得趁热吃噢~


再来是台湾割包!台北师大夜市的割包是我在台湾最最喜欢的食物 XD 卤肉,酸菜,花生粉,香菜。。。咸甜交加的完美组合。台北客栈卖的割包还算不错,可是师大夜市的那个就更上一层楼了。各位下次去台湾可以试试。


不过这里卖的奶茶味道普通。。。我觉得它太稀了~


摒除令人失望的奶茶,其他的食物还是很赞的!有机会去试试呗 =D

你看他们的等候牌,不是常见的“号码”,而是“蘑菇”!实在太可爱啦 XD

My friends and I had a small gathering at Giraffe Cafe tonight. We tried its desserts couple of times before but have never tried its main course, so we decided to give it a try today.


We ordered Sesame Chicken Noodle Salad~It's a very summer-ish dish, light and refreshing. The dumplings of Vegetarian Dumplings & Soba Noodles were fried nicely, but the taste itself was normal. As for the Creamy Pumpkin, chicken & spinach baked rice...the taste was just...OK =p Moving on to the dessert! You should not miss out Chocolate pudding and Sticky Date Pudding! However, I do suggest 2 persons to share 1 chocolate pudding-- It's really nice but you may feel sick if you finish such a THICK Chocolate Pudding all by yourself~


As a whole, I think Giraffe Cafe's dessert outshines its main course. This cafe is very suitable for small gathering/ Hi-Tea. The ambience is peaceful and cozy =)

今天很愉快地跟老朋友见面了~地点就在靠近 Melbourne Central 的 Giraffe Cafe。 这间 Cafe 总是主打甜点,其实它也有卖正餐噢 =D


我们点了 Sesame Chicken Noodle Salad~吃起来清新可口,是一道很适合夏日的面食。Vegetarian dumplings & soba noodles 的煎饺煎得非常出色,脆脆的!不过味道还好。另外一道 Creamy Pumpkin, chicken & spinach baked rice 嘛。。。味道“普普”呢~哈哈!再来是甜点!Chocolate Pudding 和 Sticky Date Pudding 都是不错的选择。建议两个人合吃一份 Chocolate Pudding-- 虽然很好吃,但这么浓厚的巧克力一个人可吃不消啊~


总的来说,我觉得 Giraffe Cafe 的甜点会比正餐出色。那边气氛很温馨,非常适合小聚会/ 吃甜点 =)
